The Salt Cathedral of Zipaquirá is one of the most unique attractions in Colombia. Built inside an underground salt mine, it is considered one of the most impressive architectural and engineering achievements in the country. It is an underground Roman Catholic church carved entirely within a salt mine, about 180 meters (590 ft) below ground. It is part of the Salt Park (Parque de la Sal) and a major pilgrimage and tourist site.
